Our history
Founded in 1980 as part of IDS Ingegneria dei Sistemi in Pisa, Italy, the company was acquired by Hexagon in 2016.
Over the years, the company has pioneered radar technologies for civil applications as breakthrough products in this domain. Through a continuous commitment to research & development, IDS GeoRadar provides professionals with innovative products using state-of-the-art technologies and novel solutions.

A World Leader in Multi-frequency, Multi-channel Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) systems
IDS GeoRadar has long been a major player in research into GPR. This dates back to 1991, when, at the request of Telecom Italia, IDS GeoRadar launched the multi-frequency, multi-channel array systems. This innovation enabled the construction of detailed 3D images of large underground areas, dramatically improving utilities detection. Building on this success IDS GeoRadar has become one of the largest global providers of GPR products.

A pioneer of Interferometric technology applied to Civil Engineering and Earth Environment
The first commercial ground-based interferometric radar with linear scan capabilities, the IBIS product line, was launched in 2007. This ground-breaking product range was unique to the field as it was the first use of interferometric technology for dynamic and static monitoring of structures and earth environments. The interferometric radar products provide a unique solution to the problem of monitoring small movements in ground or structures, allowing remote, long range, continuous real-time measurement of large areas.
